Therapy that meets you where you are and gives you tools to move forward

The Big Picture

  • My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that people already have strengths and the ability to grow — sometimes they just need support, understanding, and practical tools along the way. I primarily use a person-centered approach and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which means our work together is collaborative, supportive, and skill-based.

  • Person-centered therapy is all about creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and respected. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to support you — not tell you what to do or who to be.

This approach focuses on building a strong therapeutic relationship, meeting you where you are, and working at a pace that feels right for you.

  • DBT is a practical, skills-based approach that helps people understand their emotions, manage distress, and build healthier ways of coping with life’s challenges. It’s especially helpful if you feel emotions intensely, struggle with stress, or find yourself stuck in patterns that aren’t working anymore.

DBT isn’t about “fixing” you — it’s about learning tools that help you navigate difficult moments more effectively and intentionally.

  • 🧠 Mindfulness
Learning how to slow down, notice what’s happening in the moment, and respond rather than react.

    🌊 Distress Tolerance
Building skills to get through hard moments without making things worse — especially when emotions feel overwhelming.

    ❤️ Emotion Regulation
Understanding emotions and learning ways to manage them more effectively, rather than feeling controlled by them.

    🤝 Interpersonal Effectiveness
Developing healthier communication, boundaries, and relationship skills while still honoring your needs.ription

What to expect…

1

Reach Out

Once you contact me, we’ll start with a brief consultation. This is a low-pressure conversation where you can share what’s bringing you in, ask questions, and get a feel for what working together might look like. It’s also a chance for us to see if we’re a good fit.

2

First Session

If we decide to move forward, we’ll schedule an initial session. This first appointment is about getting to know you — your experiences, goals, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. We’ll go at your pace, and there’s no expectation to share anything you’re not ready to.

3

Ongoing Work

From there, therapy becomes a collaborative process. Sessions may include talking things through, learning and practicing skills (such as DBT tools), and checking in on what’s working and what’s not. Together, we’ll build a plan that supports your goals and helps you feel more confident navigating life outside of sessions.

FAQs

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

If you’re even wondering whether therapy might be helpful, that’s often a good sign. You don’t need to be in crisis or have everything “figured out” to benefit from therapy. Many people come in because they want support, clarity, or tools to handle life a little differently. Therapy can be a space to talk things through, learn new skills, and better understand yourself — at whatever pace feels right for you.

What can I expect during the first session?

The first session is mostly about getting to know you and understanding what brought you in. We’ll talk about your experiences, what you’re hoping to work on, and any questions or concerns you might have. There’s no pressure to share everything right away — we’ll go at a pace that feels comfortable. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, supported, and clear on what next steps could look like.

What if I don’t know what to talk about in therapy?

That’s completely okay — and very common. You don’t need to come in with a plan or the “right” things to say. Part of my job is helping guide the conversation and figure out what feels most important to focus on. We can start wherever you are, even if that’s just talking about how it felt to schedule the appointment.

How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?

Finding the right fit matters. A consultation or first session is a chance to see how it feels to talk together, ask questions, and get a sense of my approach. If you feel comfortable, heard, and understood, that’s usually a good sign. And if it doesn’t feel like the right match, that’s okay too — I want you to find support that truly works for you.

Let me help you find the care that's right for you.
